First off what is good gut health? You see all the excitement and the big craze nowadays in the #fitness industry is about eating yogurt and getting good #probiotics but what does all that really mean?
Gut health is a term that refers to how healthy your stomach functions along with your small intestine and large intestines. A person with a healthy guy can eat a wide variety of foods without suffering from #bloating, #heartburn or other forms of #indigestion. These people are also able to absorb basically all the nutrients they consume from foods and have lots of beneficial #bacteria in their gut lining.
People with good gut health often stand out showing these type of traits. They almost never get sick or have any allergy issues. They can eat pretty much anything they want without passing gas. And if they choose to lose weight it often comes fairly quick to them and easy.
Now on the other hand the individual with poor gut health may experience constant bloating, stomach pain, and living on aunt acids. They will often be more stressed out have mood swings and have trouble sleeping. They can also be on both ends of the spectrum with chronic hunger or severe poor appetite. They were often always get hurt and have trouble recovering from exercise programs due to high #inflammation and stress in the body.
People with poor gut health are prone to not only gaining weight but having lots of trouble losing weight. Fat loss is always an issue for people with poor gut health.
Tiredness - someone with poor gut health is often tired with no energy. This is a recipe for disaster when trying to lose weight because not only do you have to cut calories but you also have to be active. Most people supplement medications or supplements to improve their mood but what they don’t understand is that mental health is caused by within 50% of neurotransmitters that are made inside the G.I. tract. If you have poor gut health you can take all the medication you want your problem will never change for the better.
Chronic Hunger - there’s a hormone called #leptin that helps regulate calorie expenditure and signals your brain to tell you that you were full. When suffering from poor get health You can feel like you can never fill up no matter how much you eat.
Naturally being in a #caloriedeficit is necessary for weight loss. Even if you manage to fight the urge to eat eventually you will break just from mental stress. Also mental stress will drive up cortisol levels causing you to gain more weight.
Poor Nutrient Absorption - when your gut health is poor your body can no longer absorb the proper amount of nutrients that it’s consuming. This is something I actually suffered with myself for many years. Coming from the #bodybuilding world of living off supplements which are complete crap for your body. It reeked havoc on my gut health destroying my digestive enzymes. For quite some time I had trouble controlling hunger issues because I could not absorb the nutrients in my food regardless of how well I ate.
The best thing that you can do is start identifying the foods that you eat with a food journal. You need to find out what foods your body tolerates well and which ones it doesn’t. You will often fine foods that are in common with each other but don’t be surprised if all of it just doesn’t make sense.
A good place to start would be avoiding gluten, wheat, soy and dairy. These foods alone cause the most havoc in the human body across all races in the world.
You can slowly begin to start taking in grass fed meat and organic fruits and vegetables. Also take a good digestive enzyme with each meal to help your body absorb nutrients.
Do bloodwork every four months to track to see what’s actually happening in your body.
You will be amazed at the amount of energy and fat loss that you will get from taking care of your gut. Not to mention meeting all your fitness goals will allow you to also live a longer and healthier life avoiding many diseases that plague our society such as cancer.
